About Bg-Remover.org
One job. Done properly. Free.
Some companies have mission statements. We have a sentence: cut things out of photos, fast, and give them away free. That's been the entire plan since day one, and honestly, it's going pretty well.
Why we exist
Here's the short version. For years, if you wanted a background removed, you used remove.bg. Then two things happened: remove.bg announced it was shutting down in December 2026, and using it started redirecting you to Canva, as if signing up for a design platform was a reasonable price for deleting some sky behind a coffee mug.
We didn't think it was. So we built the tool we wished existed: open the page, drop the photo, take your PNG. No account, no redirect, no paywall. What started as something we made for friends and people around us worked so well that keeping it to ourselves felt greedy. So we opened it up to everyone.
A few numbers we're proud of
| $0 | What it costs to use. Forever. |
|---|---|
| 1 | Job we do. (See above.) |
| 4 | File formats: JPG, PNG, WebP, HEIC |
| ∞ | How many images you can process. No credits, no counters. |
| 0 | Watermarks, signups, and dark patterns. We counted. |
Our craft
There's a saying about how hard it is to spot a polar bear in the snow. Background removal is that kind of problem, and it's the one problem we're very good at solving.
Why it's free (no, really)
Fair question. Three honest answers:
- It started as a tool for friends. Friends don't charge friends.
- The hardware got cheap. Running modern AI used to require a server farm. It doesn't anymore, so everyday use costs us very little.
- We'd rather be useful than extractive. Personal use will stay free forever. In the future, heavy business workflows (4K exports, batch processing) may become a paid Pro tier. But nobody will ever hit a paywall removing a background from a family photo.
What we'll never do
The background removal industry has some habits we find... strange. A short, permanent list:
- Sell your data. We barely collect any.
- Slap a watermark on your own photo and charge you to remove it.
- Give you "3 free credits" like a casino.
- Email you "we miss you" after one visit.
- Redirect you to a design suite you didn't ask for. You know who you are.
The team
A small group of people who looked at the state of background removal, said "that's ridiculous," and built the obvious alternative. No investors to please, no growth hacks, no 40-person marketing department. Just engineers who care a suspicious amount about edges.
That's us. Now try the tool.
All of this is a lot of words to describe a very simple experience. The fastest way to understand what we do is to drop a photo and watch a background disappear.
